Farm Market

 

 

Rules & Regulations

 

All foods, with the exception of fresh fruits, vegetables and shelled nuts, shall be pre-packaged, handled, stored, offered by sale and sold in a manner to protect package from contamination; in accordance with MDA rules.

 

All produce must be fresh, high quality, in season and Michigan grown.

 

All products offered for sale on the market will be open for inspection by the Market Management and State Food Inspectors.  Bakeries must be licensed by the Michigan Department of Agriculture unless for one time or occasional sales.

 

Overt sales tactics and “hawking” is not allowed.

 

All goods offered for sale by weight must be weighted on approved scales in full view of the purchaser if requested.

 

All food and produce not grown by vendor that was purchased from another Michigan Grower must be labeled as such.

 

The Market Master or agent shall make assignment of stall spaces.  Stall renters may not move to another space without permission of the Market Master.

 

All vendors must display a sign with name and address clearly visible to the public.  No produce, displays, etc. will be allowed outside your own area; changes to this rule will be made at the discretion of the Market Master.

 

The Farm Market does not intend to set vendor prices, however, vendors will keep in mind that this is a retail market and not a wholesale market.  Please establish a fair retail price.  Vendors shall not practice distress pricing.

 

Each vendor stall must be under the “on site” supervision of a responsible person.

 

Any and all vendor generated waste (rubbish or trash) must leave the market with the vendor.  All stall renters must clean the area they occupy prior to leaving (must be broom clean).

 

All vendor vehicles driven on the market site must be operated in a safe manner.

 

The market will be open every Friday afternoon from July 6 – October 19 with hours being from 2:00 pm – 7:00 pm (thru Labor Day) and 2:00 pm – 6:00 pm (after Labor Day).  Vendors must set-up and be ready by to 1:45 pm.

 

Season stall renters reserve their space for the entire season. Season stall renters must be in their place by 1:45 pm every market day or their stall will be considered open for the day and may be rented to a daily renter.

 

Space cannot be reserved without advanced payment.  One vendor can reserve up to four stalls and vendors cannot lease or rent their reserved stall(s) to other vendors.

 

Reservations can be made for daily stalls by calling the Newaygo Farm Market at 652-3068.  Daily renters must report to the Market Master in person prior to each market day that they wish to sell.  Daily stall assignments will be made on the basis of “first come first served”.

 

The Market Master reserves the rights for assignment so as to take into account a balanced placement of various vendors for the good of the market as a whole.

 

All checks or money orders are made payable to the Newaygo Area Chamber of Commerce.

 

Newaygo Farm Market does not permit the sale of livestock, flea market items or antiques.

 

Any seller, daily or seasonal, in violation of these rules is subject to suspension as determined by the Market Master or agent.  Violators shall forfeit rental of stall.  All vendors are required to meet all applicable rules and regulations of the County of Newaygo and the State of Michigan.  (Michigan Department of Agriculture and Food Division is 616.456.8850)

 

The directions of the Market Master or agent must be complied within all matters pertaining to the operation of the market.  Complaints or appeals concerning the actions of the Market Master or agent may be made in writing to the:

Dates:               Friday’s July 6 – October 19, 2007                      2:00pm – 7:00 pm before Labor Day

Set-up Time is at 1 pm.

Fees:                Each Space is:  $10 per day paid before stall assignment.  Assigned on a first come, first serve basis.  $120 per season with full payment paid in advance of first week.

                       

§         Stalls are sized for pickups or small utility vehicles. 

§         All vendors are required to meet all applicable rules and regulations of the County of Newaygo and the State of Michigan.

§         No electricity, water or stands are provided.

§         Any weather protection of stall area is the responsibility of the vendor.

§         The Newaygo Farm Market Committee is not responsible for theft or stolen articles or accidents.

§         ALL FOODS SHALL BE MICHIGAN GROWN.    If not grown by vendor it must be labeled with the name of farmer that it was purchased from.  Vendors must provide proof of Michigan grown items if requested by the Market Master or the Newaygo Farm Market committee.
