Newaygo Days
The Newaygo Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to introduce the
Third Annual Newaygo Daze Celebration. We are very excited to
offer this opportunity for our members to promote their businesses and
for the community to just come down and have a great time.
Entertainment in the Park will begin June 1, 2007 and run thru August
31, 2007. We will offer Friday night Music and Movies in the
Park. Please come down and enjoy Friday evenings in the
Community.
Beginning July 6th and running through October 19th,
our Annual Farm Market will run, downtown Newaygo. This Year's
events will include: Newaygo Bucks drawings, special business incentives, and many other events that you
won't want to miss! Vendors at the farm market will offer
vegetables, fruit, cut flowers, dried flowers, pumpkins, Indian corn,
fresh eggs, honey, organically grown items, crafts from nature,
woodworking, and homemade baked goods. All produce will be
Michigan grown.
Newaygo Daze will also include a weekly "Newaygo
Bucks" drawing. Every Friday at 5:30 p.m. a drawing will be held
for a minimum of $300 in "Newaygo Bucks" which can be spent in any participating
Newaygo Chamber member business. So, spend your Fridays in
Newaygo, have a great time, and take the opportunity to possibly walk
away with an extra $300 to spend at local businesses.
For more
information, an application for the Farmer's Market, or if you know
someone who would like to perform during the Friday events, please
call the chamber at (231) 652-3068. You may also
market application and rules.
Logging Fest
The Logging Fest takes place over Labor
Day Weekend. Newaygo was built around the logging industry, and we are
celebrating our logging heritage. Highlights of the Logging Fest include
the Chainsaw Sculpture Competition and Auction, Lumberjack's Competition and
Fireman's Water Battle. The Arts & Crafts Show in Brooks Park is host to
exhibitors from all over the country displaying their arts and crafts. The
local merchants have sidewalk sales. The event also includes kids
activities and games, and on Sunday a parade route goes through downtown
Newaygo. You can also find a BINGO tent and Chicken BBQ in the park over
the weekend.

Holiday Fest
To
begin our Holiday Fest, the Newaygo Area Chamber of Commerce sponsors
an Annual Holiday Auction. Chamber and community members donate
items such as: decorated Christmas Trees, decorated wreaths,
gift certificates, gift baskets, table settings, and much more to be
auctioned off. This year's auction will take place on Thursday,
November 29, 2007, at Loomis Lodge in Newaygo (136 Croton
Drive). Doors open at 6 pm and the live auction begins at 7 pm. Entertainment is
also provided throughout the evening.
On Friday, November
30, 2007, from 6 pm - 9pm; be sure to head
downtown for the Annual Christmas Walk. The Walk begins with the
lighting of the Tree of Hope, decorated by the children of the Newaygo
elementary schools. You will find M-37 closed and horse drawn
wagons carrying people down the streets. Santa is sure to make a
visit for pictures at Independent Bank, chestnuts will be roasting on
an open fire in front of Sportsman's' Bar & Grill, and the street
corners will be lined with carolers. The local merchants will
offer many treats and door prizes. The winners of the lighting
contest are also announced during this event.
Winter Fest

Winter Fest is held the end of January. Events take place from Tuesday
evening
starting with a Euchre Tournament to Saturday night ending with a Dinner/Dance.
One of the newest events is the Karaoke Contest held on Wednesday evening.
This is a fantastic family event for all ages! On Thursday, there is a Pool & Dart Tournament at the State Street Pub downtown
Newaygo, and a Wine Tasting at Sportsman's Bar in downtown Newaygo. On
Friday evening, weather permitting, there is a snowmobile Fun Run that starts at
the Newaygo Sports Park trail head. As long as our weather cooperates, on
Saturday, the events begin on Hess Lake. Some of the events on Saturday
include: Chicken Bowling, Chili cook-off, Ice Fishing Contest, EXTREME
Plunge, a fundraising raffle and end with a Dinner Dance.
